A Study on the Isolation of V. parahaemolyticus from Sea-Water and Marine Products in Busan

Abstract
|

|
The authors investigated the distribution of V. parahaemolyticus and V. alginolyticus among sea-fishes, shell-fishes, sea-water and sea-mud in port of Busan from July to September in 1973.
The authors studied with isolated cultures about bacteriological identification, and kanagawa phenomenon(hemolytic activity) on the modified Wagatsuma blood afar plates.
The results obtained were as follows :
1. Among 1,078 specimens tested of sea-fishes, shell-fishes, some kinds of algae, sea-water and sea-mud were isolated 39 cases (8.25%) of V. parahaemolyticus and 873 cases(80.88%) of V. alginolyticus.
2. Among 89 isolated V. parahaemolyticus cultures, the positive were 5 cases(5.61%), the negative were 84 cases (94.39%) and V. alginolyticus were all negative in Kanagawa Phenomenon.
